the dangerous solvents.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou may find it necessary to use a solvent-based adhesive for scenarios such as:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eLeather-to-leather bonding applications involving exposure to high levels of heat and\/or moisture\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eLeather to non-leather (e.g., Natural rubber, PVC, EVA, TR, PUR, etc.) bonding applications, particularly related to footwear \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn these cases, it's okay to break out Renia's Colle de Cologne (aka CDC). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCDC has a similar open time (3-5 min) and working time (5-30 min) as Aquilim, and the bond will continue to strengthen over the next day after initial crystallization (which happened when you applied pressure (pressed or whacked with a hammer) to form the permanent bond between the two adhered substrates).  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease don't make the mistake of thinking about this as \"the good stuff\" relative to Aquilim.  CDC is just formulated to bond leather to lots of materials that don't happen to be leather.  So, \"it's not better, just, different\" ;-)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: Multi-purpose cements only bond the surface of the PUR-materials. Under heavy load or stress the spongy material will then break. Therefore the PUR bottom has to be reinforced by either coating with the vinyl-cement Renia –Syntic =TOTAL= or by Renia – Primer for PUR. The advantage of using Renia – Primer for PUR is its very short open time. After priming, any Renia CR–adhesive can be applied instantly\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePretreatment:  Wet shoes have to be dried first by pressing the sanded shoe bottom with absorbent paper for a few seconds. repeat until the paper stays dry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOpen time:  a few seconds\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNote:  Renia – Primer for PUR is sensitive to moisture and dirt. Only use a clean and dry brush. The decomposed active substance appears as a white precipitate on the bottom.
